Quarterly AI Review Template
6 min read
AI initiatives need consistent accountability to deliver results. Without regular structured reviews, projects drift, budgets balloon, and leadership loses confidence. This template gives you a repeatable format for quarterly AI reviews that keeps everyone aligned and accountable.
Section 1: Executive Summary
Start with a one-page overview for leadership. Cover overall AI initiative health (green/yellow/red), total spend vs. budget, key wins this quarter, and top risks. This should take no more than 5 minutes to present and should answer the question: "Are we on track?"
Section 2: Initiative Scorecards
For each active AI initiative, provide a one-page scorecard covering: objectives and key results, progress against milestones, ROI metrics (actual vs. projected), adoption metrics (who is using it and how often), and any blockers or risks requiring leadership attention.
Section 3: Financial Review
Track AI spending across three categories: technology (licenses, compute, tools), people (internal time, external consultants), and change management (training, communications). Compare actual vs. budgeted spend, and project forward for the next quarter.
Section 4: Adoption & Impact Metrics
Measure what matters. Track active users, usage frequency, time savings, error reduction, revenue impact, and employee satisfaction scores. If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it. Build dashboards that update automatically where possible.
Section 5: Next Quarter Planning
Close each review with a clear plan: what are we starting, continuing, stopping, and scaling next quarter? Include resource requirements, expected milestones, and any decisions needed from leadership.
